What a beautiful day! I was so excited to spend the day in Seattle with my family for my 40th birthday. The weather was awesome. No rain and 6o degrees. This is unheard of for November and I was enjoying every moment of it. We shopped until our feet hurt. We had lunch at Pacific Place and had the best hummus plate I've ever had. Of course the day would not have been complete without an eggnog latte, my favorite.
I ended up buying a few t- shirts from Old Navy, a black sweater and pink Nike warm up jacket at the Nordstrom's sale, and a sexy pair of black boots from Macy's (I wanted the comfortable orthopedic shoes but was convinced otherwise by the families response when they saw me in the boots).
Scott said he had a restaurant picked out for dinner and I looked forward to a quiet evening relaxing after a hard days shopping trip. He and the girls led me to The Cheesecake Factory. I entered the lobby t0 at least 25 familiar faces all hollering Surprise at me! It was Overwhelming (in a good way!). I totally didn't expect it.
Scott and the girls had fooled me good! The week prior to my birthday I said, "so what are we doing for my birthday anyway? Did you plan a party or anything (hint hint)?" He said, "What do you mean? You said you weren't sure if you wanted one so I just thought we would all go to Seattle for the day." I hid my disappointment. It all seemed a bit anti-climactic for making it this long on the planet.
Thank you for all of the thoughtful and funny gifts (I was bummed that I didn't get any Depend Undergarments. I'm totally out!) Probably the most treasured gift was a photo album that my mom made of my entire life, up until this point. I will enjoy revisiting the past as I pour over each page. Thank you to all who showed up to celebrate with me and make me feel so loved! I am so grateful to Scott and my daughters for making this day one I will treasure in my thoughts often.
