As I promised here is my top ten list of sun and rain songs. They are in no particular order because I couldn’t decide which was my favorite:
- I Love a Rainy Night – Eddie Rabbit
- Here Comes the Sun – The Beatles
- Bring on the Rain – Jo Dee Mesina and Tim McGraw (video below)
- Sunshine on My Shoulders – John Denver
- Somewhere Over the Rainbow – Iz
- Raincoat – Kelly Sweet
- You Are My Sunshine
- I Can See Clearly Now – Jimmy Cliff
- Good Day Sunshine – Beatles
- Shadow of the Day – Linkin Park
What is your favorite sun or rain song?

I think Lisa’s is the Weather Girls song…….”Its gonna start raining men” !!
Was that a hit over here in the US?
I quite like Delirious “Rain Down”
Craig, I love Rain Down!
Not familiar with the raining men thing but sounds pretty good to me.
URGH – I think Craig’s TRYING to be funny … NOT!
The song which sprang to mind was Bob Dylan’s Its a Hard Rain’s gonna fall (my older brother was and still is a huge Dylan fan).
Of course, anything by Ritchie Blackmore’s RAINBOW – you know I LOVE heavy metal music.
And then there’s a song by The Beautiful South “Everybody’s Talking” with a chorus I always sing when I’m walking Meg in the rain :
I’m going where the sun keeps shining
Thru’ the pouring rain
Going where the weather suits my clothes
Backing off of the North East wind
Sailing on summer breeze
And skipping over the ocean like a stone
… I’ll deal with my unruly husband later – I’ll give his dinner to the dog:)
I like “Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone”. I’m not sure who did it originally but I like the Paul McCartney version.
Lisa,
I will have to check out those songs on U Tube even if I will be doing a little head banging:)
Ryan,
I totally forgot, “Ain’t No Sunshine…”
thats a real favorite. I love the scene in Notting Hill when they play that.
In my list I forgot:Rainy Days and Mondays Always Get Me Down by The Carpenters
and Seasons in the Sun by Terry Jacks…I’m old:)
Craig showed me the youtube video today:
Ewww! Not much into Raining Men.
Yet another reason why the 80′s was a fabulous decade, eh? “Classy” music videos.
