Ah Sunshine! I miss it! It’s out today though and casting its light on everything around me. The mountains, brilliantly white against the prettiest blue skies. I stare at them as I drive down the road trying to absorb the image into myself to retrieve on a future gray day in Seattle.
We are headed to Green lake today for a cool (brrrrr), crisp walk with the family. I wish, however, we were headed to Hawaii! Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for even a bright day here in this drizzly state of Washington but I crave, not only the beauty of the Sun but the warmth it brings also.
I remember this time last year we were in Hawaii. Scott’s dad (andFumi and Ai) live there and part of their existence includes pulling on a pair of shorts everyday! Not just 7 or 8 months of the year (though that would be dreamlike) but 12 months of the year! I want this! Especially in January.
However, this is not part of my reality, so I will be content, be it ever so bone chillingly cold, with the sight of sunshine, because here in the winter of the Northwest this is like a nugget of gold found in a dark mine. It is precious to me here. I do not take it for granted. As I verbalize thanks to God for the beauty, I turn up John Denver on my I-pod and sing loudly, "Sunshine On My Shoulders…."

I need more Rainymay!
