My New Year’s resolution is to have no New Year’s resolutions. Wow! Isn’t that profound. But I do have a New Year’s prayer and it goes something like this: "Jesus, help me realize life is a process not perfection."
One of my favorite passages in the bible is found in 2 Corinthians 12:7 when Paul asks Jesus if he would remove (3 times) his ‘thorn in his flesh’. Jesus replies, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Though I may have not seen great revelations like Paul or have a messenger from Satan to torment me (that I conscientiously know of anyway) I do know that I am full of weaknesses. I see them everyday.
Jesus is perfect, and learning to be perfect should not be the goal, but to accept my weaknesses so that Jesus is glorified and strengthened in my life is my aim. Paul said it best, "For when I am weak, than I am strong."
