I’m sitting in my dining room looking out at the little birds land on the feeder. The joy they bring me still surprises me…such a simple sight but it gives me immense pleasure to hear their sweet chirps and watch them fluttering around.
You see the other day I got it in my head that I needed to do something creative with the potting shed outside my bay window. In summers past I’d tried putting some flowerpots and plants out there only to see them wilting as I walked by. Each time this happened I’d scold myself and commit to a journey to the west side of the house, if only for the sake of the poor petunia’s. This has gone on for four summers now. Not thinking my resolve has helped! Which brings me to my creative venture…a bird oasis.
I drive to the store for feed and a feeder. Next my course of action leads me to Wal-Mart in hopes of cheap birdhouses. No luck. So after a few other stops I decide garage saleing is the way to go. I think it was about my sixth garage sale when I spied them from my car. Are those what I imagine them to be? Yes, I believe they are (trumpet sounds from heaven) BIRDHOUSES! I leap out of my car not so nonchalantly and tell myself to act coy, not to eager, to ensure a better price. I am hardly out of the car when I meet bird salesman himself. I hear every fact imaginable about these little homes for birdies. The price is right and a steal at $3 and $5 a piece. Still acting aloof I thank him and walk around the rest of the sale, eventually meandering back to the simple bird house salesman. I say, to his shock, "I’ll take the two $5 ones." "OK!", he thrills. His excitement over the sale leads to another lesson on how well they are made. In his enthusiasm, he throws in another house for free.
I’d made his day! I walk away with such delight, if not for the great bargain I’d found than for the joy I’d been allowed to bring to a simple man’s day. Or perhaps for the joy he had given to me.
Not even a sparrow, worth only half a penny, can fall to the groud without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to him than a whole flock of sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31

Awesome stuff sweetie! I look forward to hearing your heart!
